What is conversion rate optimization (CRO)?
Conversion rate optimization is the practice of increasing the percentage of visitors who take action — call, buy, or fill a form. Instead of paying for more traffic, you earn more from the traffic you already have.
Understand the numbers before changing the page
As an illustration, 1,000 visits at a 1% conversion rate produce 10 conversions; at 2%, they produce 20. Revenue doubles only if those conversions are purchases and average order value stays the same. Testing takes effort, and a particular conversion lift or payback period is not guaranteed.
Cut form fields
Remove fields you do not need, while keeping the information required to qualify and respond to an enquiry. Shorter forms can reduce effort, but they may also change lead quality. Test completed forms and qualified outcomes rather than assuming every removed field improves results.
Fix mobile speed first
Check how your site performs for your actual mobile visitors. Use appropriately sized images, defer below-the-fold media and remove effects that delay useful content. Review loading metrics alongside real usability: can someone read the offer, tap a contact button and complete the form?
How to improve conversion rate: test one thing at a time
Document what you change and why. For a controlled experiment, plan the sample size and success measure before comparing variations. Low-traffic sites may need research-led usability improvements instead. A short run or a few extra enquiries does not prove that one version is better.
